Along with other government departments we’re committed to the rolling programmes of simplification that take forward the Better Regulation agenda. So we have plans in place to cut bureaucracy and streamline the way we operate. You can study those plans and check on progress, at Simplifying the way we work.
We continue to consider the impact of our operations on the environment. We have an Environmental Management System certified under ISO 14001 at our 3 office sites in the UK. We are rolling out the principles behind this system to our overseas posts. For example, we are implementing water efficiency measures, increasing what we recycle, and ensuring that the new Embassies and Ambassadors’ Residences which we build are as energy and water efficient as possible – including incorporating generation of renewable energy into their design.
