The FCO overseas
Through our network of 233 Posts worldwide the FCO is responsible for:
- conducting business with other governments and international organisations
- protecting British citizens abroad
- promoting British commercial and other interests across the world.
Our directorates
The Permanent Under-Secretary (PUS) has overall responsibility for managing the FCO’s resources and for policy advice given to Ministers. This work is shared between the eight members of the FCO Board.
